Storytime

I took Andrew to storytime at the library this morning. There were about seven toddlers there. The librarian does a great job, especially with seven toddlers running around while she is reading!

Andrew loved it. They started out doing nursery rhymes and songs. He did not get too involved in the music, but he sat there sucking his thumb with a HUGE smile on his face. He was a little more involved with the stories. At home when we read, the first time through the book we just talk about what is in the pictures. I found that if I try to just read the story to him he spends the whole time pointing to things in the pictures. So, we go through the book, look at pictures and then we read the story. While we are reading the book we choose one thing to point out on each page. He does great with this at HOME. At the library, he wanted to get up and stand in front of the librarian so he could point to the pictures. Doesn't work quite as well there!! But, overall, he did a great job for his first time.

After the music and stories they let the kids color and play with toys. There were bins with building stuff (knex, clipos, etc), a bin of mardi gras beads, puzzles, etc. He tested out all the toys, but he found a bunch of plastic cups. He spent the rest of the time we were there stacking cups and unstacking cups. He had a great time. We were there about an hour and he came home and passed out.
