A Loss in the Family

Friday our Cocker Spainel, Trip, was acting kind of funny. He has gotten "depressed" before when he has been put outside for any length of time. He was put outside during Spring Break and we made him stay out.

He went several days without barking...which is really unlike him and we again thought he was depressed about being outside. Friday while Paul was out mowing, Trip did not run around at all. This is really unlike him and we began to be concerned about him.

Saturday morning, I looked out the window and did not see him so Paul went out to check on him. He had died.

We have had problems with him several times in the past trying to eat toads in our yard (along with lizards and anything else that moved). Because of his drugged state he appeared to be in Friday, we think he ate a toad. They apparently have a poison in their skin. We don't know what else it could have been.

We have been expecting to be a dog less soon, but HE was not the one we were expecting lose.
