Zoo - AJ's First Time

We had GORGEOUS weather this weekend, and wanted to take advantage of it as much as possible! So, we decided it was a great time to let Andrew experience the zoo for the first time. He LOVED it!!

The first exhibit is the lemurs, and because it is a pretty big exhibit, it was hard to get Andrew to find the lemurs. He had no idea what he was supposed to be looking for or where we were. The next big stop was the gorillas. He was able to easily spot the animals in this exhibit! At our zoo, you stand above the gorillas and look down on them. We have a baby gorilla that is probably a year or year and a half old. Andrew LOVED watching the baby. The baby gorilla acts JUST LIKE baby Andrew! I had to keep laughing because most of the things the baby gorilla did, Andrew does. He was just as mischivious and curious as AJ is. We spent quite a bit of time watching them, because they were so easy for Andrew to see. He was talking to them and pointing and waving.

After the gorillas, Andrew seemed to understand better what we were doing. When we came to a new exhibit he would look around until he spotted an animal. If I pointed to where the animals were at he would look where I pointed.

When we went in the monkey house, Andrew started squealing and many times sounded just like a monkey. I was holding him while we walked through the house and the monkeys would hear him, stop and look at him and several of them came right down eye-level with him and just watched him wave and listened to him talk to them. Andrew was SO excited!

I told you he was a monkey - he fit right in. The monkeys seemed to immediately accept him!

He really seemed to enjoy the whole trip. We took the boys on the train (which is VERY short for $10). Andrew talked and jumped the entire ride. Caleb sat on the last row of the train all by himself. He said he had a better chance of getting pictures that way.

Andrew also got to taste his first cotton candy. We think it could quite possibly be his favorite food now!

Waiting for the train to start the ride!

I think it was a great first trip, and all of the boys enjoyed it. We got a family pass for the year (two trips to the zoo pays for a year pass for our family), so we can spend lots of time up there when kids get bored! It only takes about two hours to do our zoo - and that is really taking your time and seeing everything, so we can go early in the am when it starts getting hot out and be done before it gets to bad! You also get discounts (or in for free at some zoos) on admission at other zoos nation wide. This is GREAT to have with some of the bigger zoos!

I forgot to take my camera - the pictures are from Caleb's camera. He has a blog he started a while back. He has been begging me to get it back up for him to put pictures on, so I did not put all of his photos on here. When we get his up, I will let y'all know and you can enjoy his photography there!
