What a Legacy!

It is hard to find a local tv personality that leaves this kind of impact on people!! Our sports announcer for one of the news stations and "the voice of the Razorbacks", died last night in a head on car accident, along with the woman that was in the other car. The station that he worked for has not done news today. The normal news times are instead filled with memories of how this man has impacted different people, just by being him. The stations website is continuously getting comments from people that knew him and people who felt like they knew him.

The website lists the top stories and the number of hits each story has gotten. His story has gotten 3837124 hits, as of now. The next top story - 4508 hits. He has left many fans in Iowa (where he started out), Tennessee (where he was before Arkansas) and, of course, Arkansas.

What an impact he had on everyone by "just" doing sports. He was humble though, that I don't think he would even want all this attention! I am not a big sports person, but he really had a way of drawing you in. Everytime I heard his voice, I would stop and watch whatever he was announcing. I don't know if it was his voice or the passion that he felt and showed in his voice.

Razorback games will not quite be the same anymore. After 28+ years of announcing their games - no one will be able to fill his shoes!

As someone so perfectly put it in a comment left on the stations website: "The Razorbacks made the plays but Paul made the memories."
