What Was He THINKING?

Obviously he wasn't!! Caleb got in big time trouble this weekend. This is something I really went back and forth on posting, but I want the boys to be able to look back at this and see the things they did - good, bad and stupid!

Saturday, after a day of running around, the boys were in the playroom playing together. Isaac and Bryce ran into the kitchen to tell us that Caleb had pooped in the playroom and gave us a lego. The lego had poop in it. We called Caleb into the kitchen with the other two and asked who did it. Isaac and Bryce say Caleb, Caleb says Isaac.

Unfortunately for Caleb, he can not lie to save his life! He finally confessed and was sent to his bed to determine what punishment was suitable for what he had done. After about 10 minutes, he came out and said that he should not be able to play with toys for a month. That was a little harsher than I would have given or expected him to choose, but we agreed. Then Daddy told him that he had to write sentences on Sunday.

So, this morning, he got up and started writing I will only poop in the toilet. He did three pages, front and back of this then switched to I will not lie to my parents - and did 2 or 3 pages - front and back - of this. He kept asking if he could come out to the living room to write, and we would not let him. I had to keep explaining that it was punishment and if he wanted to be included with what the rest of us were doing - he could not act like that!

He spent the entire day we were home today writing. He is finished now, and surprisingly - he is drawing. I did not figure he would want to hold a pencil again for a while. Maybe that will teach him not to do stupid things. I thinking pooping in a lego - at 8 or any age - is pretty stupid. We also told him that next time we would make him tell all of his friends what he had done.

When punishing Caleb - you have to get creative!!!

P.S. The lego went straight to the trash - even though I thought Caleb should have to wash it (and then throw it away!).
