Basketball

We went to our city's fall fest Saturday before the Rita hit us. They had all kinds of drawings going on and we entered quite a few. One of them was for free registration ($60) to Upwards Basketball. Upwards is done through churches and it focuses on building self esteem and confidence. The kids get equal playing time and awards after each practice and game, and then they have an awards ceremony at the end of the season. I got a phone call last night that Caleb's name was drawn for the free registration. We were going to sign him up anyway, but it is pretty cool that he gets to play for free! He will be playing basketball and when the season is over he will go back to playing soccer. Luckily they are opposite of each other so he can have a sport to play most of the year, and does not have to overdo it trying to do all of them at once.
