For Caleb this time, though. He has had a cough for a couple of weeks now, but the last couple of days it has gotten progressively worse. He was up most of last night coughing and coming into my room telling me his chest and head hurt and his stomach hurt. I have been giving him some prescription cough medicine - but it did not seem to helping. His teacher basically told him not to come back to class without cough drops. I guess his cough was too disruptive!
I let him stay home today. I called the drs office first thing this morning - and took him in! He was very cooperative - I basically was just a chaffeur. He talked to the dr, he answered her questions - I was very impressed!! She listened to his chest. She said his chest sounded better than she expected, but she was not convinced that he was not getting pnemonia. She said she would not rule it completely out without a chest xray, but she did not really want to do an xray. So, since he is also working on getting an ear infection and she would have to give antibiotics anyway - she just gave him an antibiotic that would take care of both. She also gave him an inhaler to help clear it out.
He will be going back to school tomorrow. He has to take the inhaler with him. This is the first time he has had to have medicine at school - EVER!!
He is really growing up and beginning to mature. The last time we saw this particular doctor he really freaked out. It was the first time he went to the dr when we moved up here. He had ALWAYS gone to a male dr - since birth, so he did not like having to undress down to his underwear for a female dr. We have since always tried to get him in to see a male dr. I was concerned going to see her - even though it has been years. What a difference a few years makes!!

Big, Fat, Wet, Juicy, Slobbery Open Mouth Kisses!
Andrew gives LOTS of kisses!! We call them AJ kisses. The boys like to act like they hate them, but they always ask for them! If I pucker up for a kiss from him - he gives me one - on the lips, open mouth, wet slobbery smiley kisses!!
Last night he was SO cute. I puckered up for a kiss. He started making some funny faces at me. It took me a minute to figure out what he was doing, but he was trying to actually pucker his lips back at me. It was ADORABLE! I could not help but to laugh at him - which made him laugh! Then he gave me an "AJ kiss".
I will miss my AJ kisses too soon!!

New Foods
Andrew has been starting some new foods. We have tried the little puffs that dissolve in his mouth. He did not really like them until recently - now he LOVES them! So, he has been trying lots of different things lately.
He has been eating a lot of table food. I decided to get some of the Gerber Graduates diced fruits and vegetables and see how he did with them. Today he tried peaches. I thought I was going to give him half the jar - but he would not quit. He ate the entire jar. He never had any problems with the size of the food or swallowing it.
For dinner tonight he had chicken noodle soup. Not baby food. I went and got Chicken and Stars soup. The stars are really small and there is small diced carrots and chicken in it. He ate over half the can of soup - by himself!
My little boy is growing up too fast! ALL of my little boys are growing up too fast!

One Thing After Another
Poor Andrew!! He has been under the weather for the last month! He started with a cold. After he had the cold for weeks I took him back to the dr to find out he had two ear infections. Now...he has three teeth coming in - and one that just came in. Andrew gets EVERY symptom you have probably ever heard of when he teethes! People ask if he is feeling better - who can tell?
The teeth thing - kind of weird! He got his bottom two teeth pretty much at the same time. His top ones though - he got the front tooth on the left side over the last couple of days. But, instead of the other front tooth coming in next, his tooth to the left of the left front is coming in. The right front and one next to it look like they will be in soon. His gums are all swollen and white.
He is not getting a whole lot of sleep (neither am I!)! He is so congested and can't stop coughing. I feel sorry for the poor little guy, but after today - my feeling sorry is quickly wearing off!!

No Nap but Happy!!
Andrew has been WOUND up today!! He did not nap for more than 15 minutes today - which he normally takes at least two VERY lengthy naps. When he did nap - it was on top of me. Everytime I laid him down in his bed, before I could even get out of the door, he would be up playing.
I gave him a bottle, thinking if he would lay down and drink a bottle it would put him to sleep. NOPE!! I went and checked on him, he was holding his bottle with one hand and had one side of his diaper undone with his hand inside it. Typical male!
He has not been fussy - he has been insanely happy!! He has been squealing and laughing and attacking his brothers all day.

Tigger
We went to a friends house last week and Andrew tried out a jumperoo. They are like the old Johnny Jump-ups that you hang in a doorway and your baby jumps in, except they are on their own frame (kind of like a swing). Andrew does NOT like the Johnny Jumpup. If you put him in it - he will tolerate it for a few minutes at most - but never really enjoys it!
Well, he tried this jumperoo - LOVED IT!!! He got to where when he was standing up with us holding him - he was bouncing. Well, I went back and forth about whether or not to get one - whether it was worth the cost and if he would get much use out of it.
After going back and forth - looking at weight limits, etc., I got a pretty good deal on one and got it. I will try to get some video of him and get it on the blog soon!!

Search for Boobies
Friday was Parents Night Out at church. When I got home with the kids, they were supposed to go get ready for bed. Before I could even get in the house Bryce was talking about Caleb being on my computer. I came in to my laptop and saw Caleb running away. He had typed in a search. My mouth dropped!!!
He searched boobie. Just imagine what came up - and it was nothing for nine year old eyes!!
I asked him why he typed that in. At first he said he didn't do anything. I told him I did not type that in and he was the only one home that could type or spell. Then he said it "just came up when I typed something in." Then said he was trying to look up a bird. I gave him a funny "PLEASE" look - and before I could say anything he ran in and got a book. There really is a boobie bird!!! It is called a blue-footed boobie bird
Oh, the innocence!!

Hard Life!!!
PROUD PARENTS!!!
As a parent, there are MANY things you want for your child. You pray for them daily, for their safety, happiness, etc. If I could pray for only one thing for my children, it would be their salvation. In the end - everything boils down to this.
Last Sunday, during church, Caleb filled out the prayer request slip that is in the church bulletin. He often fills this out, just to do something. Last week he tried to put it in the offering plate. I would not let him - thinking it was just him playing. Then I read it. "I would like to confess my life to the one and only Lord." "Favorite verse: For God so lovd the world that he gave his one and only son for whosoever believes in him will not perish but have an everlasting life (John 3:16)"
I talked to him about this after church and he said he wanted to be saved. We talked about it all for awhile, and he REALLY seemed to get it all! Wednesday afternoon we went to see the preacher. I asked Caleb on the way to the church if he wanted me to go in with him. He said he wanted to do it on his own. If you know Caleb lately - he is somewhat shy. I was shocked he WANTED to do this by himself.
The pastor came out after their meeting and told me about the "bridge" illustration he used while talking to Caleb. He said before he got the chance to offer to pray with Caleb and have Caleb repeat him, Caleb started praying BY HIMSELF!! He did it on his own!
I asked him where he learned his favorite verse. I don't know what made me wonder that - because it is a VERY common verse for kids to know. But, I did ask. I got an amazing story. If you are a frequent reader - and have been for awhile - you may remember that a few months ago - Paul's jeep broke down. We had a hard time deciding where to take the jeep to get fixed. There were major differences in amounts it would cost to fix it from different mechanics. We were told by several people that this one place was great, the man was dependable and honest and did good work. Well, we decided to take it to this guy because there were so many people saying such good things about him. On the sign on his building he has John 3:16 printed. Caleb memorized it while we were sitting out in the parking lot for a few minutes.
Who knew that us going to this certain mechanic would be a stepping stone to my son getting saved. It just shows that kids really pick up on what some may think are small things.
I am so excited to see how excited he is. He is telling EVERYONE "I am a christian now." His Daddy and I are so proud of who he is becoming.

New Teeth
It is a good thing that the tooth fairy does not bring money for NEW teeth!!! Between Andrew and Isaac I would be BROKE - I mean the tooth fairy would be broke!!
Andrew is having a hard time getting over his cold - so I thought. He gets EVERY symptom in the book when he is teething.
I was wiping some chocolate from an ice cream sandwich in the roof of his mouth and felt...something. Then he started SCREAMING!!! He has VERY sensitive gums because he has a new tooth coming in on top!
Isaac has two new teeth coming in. He is going to look VERY different! He has been missing one of his top front teeth for 3 years now. There is a little bitty tooth poking out of his gums. HE IS NOT GOING TO HAVE A HOLE ANYMORE!! :(

Look - Alike Contests
Okay, now that they are all done - I am not sure... Most of the results do not agree with what we (and others) think! Still, it was fun to do!
Andrew's Look - Alike Contest
Since Andrew was born it has been a big controversy as to who Andrew looks like. Some say he looks like Mom, some say he looks like Dad, and some don't think he belongs to this family. I must admit, we do get MORE of "he looks just like his Daddy!" Well, I put it to the (technology test). This was FUN!
at 3 days

at almost 8 months

SO - I guess if you said he looked like Mom or Dad - YOU WERE RIGHT!!! If you said he doesn't look like he is ours, well.....

Taste of Twins
Today I am getting a small taste of what it is like to have twins. I know, I missed what I would assume would be the hardest stage - the newborn stage. Still, a small taste. I am keeping a little GIRL that is nine days older than Andrew. Yes I am still keeping Lilah too, so that means I have a four year old, a two year old and two seven month olds. Yes, I AM CRAZY!!! I know!
Andrew is loving it. He flirts with her just like he flirts with any other woman! They are funny to watch and listen to. They are "talking" to each other right now. Andrew does his squealey talk and then Carter does a squealey talk back. They are SO cute together.
Bryce was excited when he found out we were keeping her today. Chrisanna brought her over yesterday and when Bryce got up and got past the confusion and concern of thinking that I traded Andrew in - he told me she was really cute and he wanted a little girl sister too! :)

Sick AJ - STILL
I had to take Andrew to the dr this morning. He has had a cold for about three weeks now and has not completely shook it. Yesterday he started getting really fussy and clingy - which is not like Andrew (the fussy part anyway). We did not sleep AT ALL last night. He could not breath, he was coughing and sneezing, etc. So, I got up early (later than normal, but early because the boys were not up yet) got dressed and sat on hold for 25 minutes with the drs office. Apparantly the girls that answer the phone got there late this morning!
We went in and they weighed him - he weighed 16 POUNDS 3 OUNCES. That is major for him!! Apparantly his high calorie diet is working - which means he can start going on a diet! He was just over 15 pounds a couple of weeks ago!
He has two ear infections. This really surprised me because when Andrew is not feeling well he plays with his ears. He has not been playing with his ears so I did not expect and ear infection at all much less two! The dr said that all of the fluid from the cold got in his ears and that is why he has not been able to shake the cold. He is on Amoxicillin now. Still very fussy and clingy and unhappy. Looks like a garbage-pail kid! Snot ALWAYS covering his face, covered in throw up... His poor face has broken out from all the snot, tissues and burp cloths we have been wiping his face with. Poor baby!!

Christmas Decorating
We put up Christmas decorations last night and today. We decided, for the first time since we were married, to get a real tree. We went last night and got it and put it up while we listened to the Razorbacks beat LSU (who was ranked #1 before we beat them in the third overtime - by two points). Oh yeah - sorry! So, we were working on the tree and the star would not stay on the top. SO, we decided to get a bow for the top instead. We went to the store to get one, and all we could find were red. My decor is blues, silvers and pearls. I decided that I would make a bow. Got home, and OH YEAH!!! I have NEVER made a bow before!! Paul got online while I was playing with the ribbon and found some instructions on how to make them. The two of us sat down together with our little homemade, bow-making contraption and made this bow. I was pretty impressed with our work for it to be the first time! It is a little bigger than I would have picked for our tree, but it works!
Caleb went on and on the whole way to buy the tree saying that it was a waste of money and he wanted the fake tree and blah blah blah!! The fake tree is BIG. Last year we only put half the tree up (it was in a corner). I don't have a corner to put half a tree in this year and with Andrew being mobile - I really wanted the tree out of the living room. So, it is in the front window - in the dining room.
